I was about to give birth to my second child at home. The birthing tub was set up and everything was ready. I was 2 days past my due date.

The next morning around 7am the contractions started to get intense. I could immediately tell they were real contractions, coming at regular intervals. My husband and our 3 year old left and I called the maternity ward and asked for a midwife. My contractions are 7 minutes apart. I texted my mother and lay down on the couch when the contractions started to get intense, every few minutes.

My husband came home and immediately started filling the birthing tub with water. I could feel the contractions coming, and my husband asked me to take off my pants, which irritated me, but I took them off anyway. I could feel the head coming out, and with a huge roar, our daughter came out into my husband's hands. The umbilical cord was around her neck, but we quickly got it off her neck, and she started screaming, and I immediately took her in.

We were both filled with joy and excitement as we held our healthy baby in our arms just 1.5 hours after it all started. I came through without any tearing, even though there was no support for my perineum.

10 minutes later the midwife arrived, followed by a taxi with the necessary things for the birth. I was breastfeeding and the midwife helped me get the placenta out. She asked if I wanted a vitamin K injection for the baby or synthetic oxytocin, which I declined.

It was the fastest, wildest and most beautiful birth. I had a lot of after-parties for several days, where reflexology helped more than panadil and Ipren❤️
