We had no doubt that our first child would be born at home, and prepared ourselves thoroughly by, among other things, planning the coziest, calmest setting in our small apartment. We were also sure that ginger cloths, heating pads, massage/pressure and a birthing tub would come into play along the way as pain relief. However, we didn't get to use any of these elements - the contractions started on Monday at 9 pm, the midwife arrived at 3 am and our wonderful girl was born on Tuesday at 8 am (on the due date!). It was a completely, completely magical experience and we are sure that our next birth will also take place at home - and hopefully in a birthing tub next time!
